27. September 2023 ǀ Sweco has signed an agreement to acquire Medins Havs och Vattenkonsulter AB, a company specializing in aquatic environment surveys, in response to increasing demand for such expertise in the green transition. 27
In Sweden, Sweco currently has some 60-odd consultants who advise on client projects in aquatic environments. Medins is one of the country’s leading specialists with cutting-edge expertise in surveying aquatic environments.
Enhancing Sweco’s full-service offering through medins acquisition
“Aquatic environment consulting is in growing demand, from private- and public-sector clients, for example in offshore wind power, ports, industry, mines, water and sewage treatment, and transportation infrastructure. We are now welcoming 35 new colleagues, whose expertise will become an important part of Sweco’s full-service offering and we look forward to working together to support clients within sustainable societal development,” says Ann-Louise Lökholm Klasson, President of Sweco Sweden.

Medins has an annual turnover of approximately SEK 36 million and has around 35 aquatic environment experts, of whom several are leading in their niche within Sweden. This is the Sweco Group’s tenth acquisition in 2023 and is in line with the acquisition strategy to grow the business by adding key competence that complements the Group’s 21,000 experts.
Medins: Pioneers in Aquatic Environment Surveys
Medins was founded in 1988, with its head office in Mölnlycke. The company has cutting-edge expertise in marine biology (salt water) and limnology (freshwater) and conducts assignments across Sweden for private- and public-sector clients. Medins works with surveys of biology, sediment, marine archaeology, underwater sound, hydrography, underwater filming, sonar mapping, biological laboratory analyses and other inventories in watercourses, lakes and seas.
