IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018 in Tokyo

Water leaders will meet in Tokyo, Japan, 16-21 September to debate and define new solutions to tackle the global water crisis and to shape the global water future.

Water scarcity, increasingly impacted by climate change, floods and droughts, coupled with threats from pollution and growing demand for water, are some of the top risks facing the world today. These are risks of high impact and high likelihood affecting global supply chains, regional stability and economic performance.
The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018, is the leading global event to address these challenges. The Congress & Exhibition showcase revolutionary applications of big data, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things on the development of a smart water sector; urban design approaches to reduce flood risks, protect the quality of water resources and enhance the liveability of our cities; and inspirational examples from around the world from those leading the change.

Kala Vairavamoorthy, Executive Director of the IWA, said, "The IWA strives to speed innovation into practice, and one way it achieves this is through the World Water Congress and Exhibition. This unique event brings together the science, technology, policy and practice of water under one roof. It provides thought leadership, learning opportunities and professional updating; facilitates networking and the sharing of solutions with peers from around the world; it provides business opportunities and the chance to build partnerships that can spark innovation."
Over 5,000 leading water experts and industry professionals are expected to come together with more than 250 companies and institutes, to learn about the latest global trends, leading practice, innovative technologies and pioneering science in water and wastewater management. Organised by the International Water Association (IWA), the event fosters and inspires new ideas and new partnerships to help solve the world’s greatest water challenges.
Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, said, "The world faces various problems related to water, including droughts and water pollution. At the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018 leading researchers, companies and other institutions from around the world will gather to share their latest knowledge and technology. As a result, this conference should help to contribute towards solving water related problems. As the host city we will use this conference to actively share Tokyo’s accumulated technologies and know-how."
The Congress and Exhibition presents leading edge knowledge, expertise and know-how through world-renowned keynote speakers, business forums, workshops, technical sessions, leadership forums and poster sessions. All of which will drive dialogue on emerging issues on policy, industry, financing and business models, practice, science and technology.

Der Abwasser-Zweckverband (AZV) Südholstein ist 60 Jahre alt geworden. Am 14. Juli 1965 gründete sich der Verband mit Feststellung seiner ersten Satzung. Damit machte er im Kreis Pinneberg und Umgebung den Weg frei für Umwelt- und Gewässerschutz sowie bessere Lebensbedingungen durch die zentrale Abwasserentsorgung.
