„Rethinking Water Cycles“

That is the motto of the 6th International Symposium RE-WATER Braunschweig and from the 14th Lower Saxony Groundwater Colloquium, which will take place on February 20 and 21, 2019.

von | 09.03.18

Both conference series focus on the interdisciplinary topic "water".

For many years, the Lower Saxony Groundwater Colloquium and the International Symposium ReWater Braunschweig have been important events for the water and wastewater treatment sector and are well-established conferences in the research and innovation landscape within and beyond the Braunschweig Region of Science.

Joint Conference

Both conference series focus on the interdisciplinary topic "water" and share a common interest in all aspects of the resource "water". In addition, in 2019 the Lower Saxony Groundwater Colloquium celebrates its 30th Anniversary. Thus, Abwasserverband Braunschweig (Braunschweig Wastewater Association), Nord-deutsches Wasserzentrum – NWZ (network of the Northern German water industry), the Stadtentwässerung Braunschweig GmbH (Braunschweig Water and Wastewater Treatment Authority) and the Technische Universität Braunschweig (Technical University Braunschweig) want to use this opportunity to organize a joint conference with the focus on "Rethinking Water Cycles".

Platform for interdisciplinary discussion

The Lower Saxony Groundwater Colloquium has been presented to an international audience since 1989. Experts from research, industry, consulting, associations and administrations from different countries are invited to exchange their experience and ideas and present them to a wider audience. It is the declared goal of the Lower Saxony Groundwater Colloquium to provide a platform for an interdisciplinary discussion about a sensible approach to groundwater protection and groundwater management.
The International Symposium RE-WATER Braunschweig generally focuses on the topics water reuse, nutrient recovery and closing of energy and material cycles. Also, subjects closely linked to these reuse topics such as questions of hygiene and pollutant loads as well as administrative and legal aspects especially in view of demographic and climatic changes are covered by the Symposium Series RE-WATER Braunschweig. Corresponding with its interdisciplinary approach, the symposium aims to attract a wide range of scientists, planners, policy makers and managers from administration and industry and encourages papers that address scientific or applied-research topics in the general fields of groundwater, wastewater and reuse and within the interdisciplinary fields water as a resource, nutrients, hygiene, pollutants, soil protection and treatment processes.

Call for Papers

Interested speakers are encouraged to submit a short abstract (1-2 pages DIN A4 German or English) by June 1, 2018. Submitted abstracts will be evaluated within six weeks. Selected papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Deadline for submitting the full paper (5-10 DIN A4 pages, German or English) for publication will be November 2, 2018. The official languages of the conference are German and English. In the year 2019, the Re-Water Award with a value of 5000 € will be assigned for the third time. Papers accepted for the international conference will automatically take part in the competition for the Re-Water Award.
More information on the conference can be found at www.re-water.de and ww.hydrogeologie.org.

Microplastics threaten resilience of Mediterranean corals

The bay of Illa Grossa off the coast of Spain, is home to the only reef-forming stony coral species in the Mediterranean: Cladocora caespitosa.
