The workshop will be held at Hotel Seehof, at the shore of Lake of Haltern – a beautiful landscape in western Germany, on the northern edge of the Ruhr region, not far away from Düsseldorf. In order to enable participation of young researchers a fellowship covering full board accommodation will be made available for all contributions, expecting to be present during the entire workshop.
Conference Character
The format of the Late Summer Workshops is of the Gordon Research Conference type. Discussion and active participation are integrated. The organizers are looking for a lot of stimulation, thinking and exchange of experiences. Special consideration will be given to young scientists. The Water Chemistry Society feels responsible for development of the rising scientific generation and wishes to encourage individuals to remain in research and active in the development of this field. Attendance will be limited to 50 persons.
Prominent scientists will address the above topics in invited lectures, followed by selected contributions as participant lectures. This year, invited lectures will be given by Prof. Michel Dodd, University of Washington, USA, Prof. Martin Elsner, Technical University of Munich, Dr. Imma Ferre, University of Colorado, USA, Prof. Damian E. Helbling, Atkinson Center for Sustainable Future Faculty Fellow, USA, Prof. Jeppe Lund Nielsen, Alborg University, Denmark, Prof. Davin Sedlak, University of California, USA, Dr. Peter Tentscher, Aalborg Øst, Denmark, Prof. Thomas Ternes, Federal Institute of Hydrology, Germanny, and Prof. Urs van Gunten, EAWAG, Switzerland.
