Zamora de Hidalgo is the strawberry center of the state Michoacán in Mexico and home of a large number of agro-processing companies. The wastewater treatment plant shown in the video consists of a physical pre-treatment step to reduce the TSS (total suspended solids) content, followed by a dissolved air flotation (DAF) step, a membrane bioreactor (MBR) and subsequent treatment steps using ozone and activated carbon. The membrane modules are BioCel modules by Microdyn-Nadir. Due to the multi-stage treatment process the effluent is ready for reuse as cleaning water.
According to the Mexican company SSOZ, which allowed us to show the video, future expansion by adding a reverse osmosis (RO) stage is planned. This will further process the clean water for reuse in steamers and heat exchangers.
