The Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) has launched a new programme, „Predictive Ecology in the Anthropocene,“ to address the growing challenges faced by freshwater ecosystems. By combining interdisciplinary approaches and innovative methods, the initiative aims to better understand how global changes like drought, flooding, and urbanization affect lakes, rivers, and wetlands, enabling more accurate predictions and informed decision-making for sustainable freshwater management and biodiversity protection.
